Why use Grease for Automotive Water Pump Bearings lubrication？

The two ends of the automobile water pump bearing are equipped with the fan and vanes of the automobile water pump. Automotive water pump bearings are affected by factors such as engine heat radiation, circulating coolant heating, and difficulty in heat dissipation. The temperature of automotive water pump bearings can reach 120~130°C.

When the temperature of the bearing is high, contact with water, glycol, etc. will cause the inner ring of the bearing to be corroded. Therefore, for obtaining water resistance and long life,for water pump bearing, lubrication is an important issue that affects its working life , Especially heat-resistant grease is more suitable for use.

The bearing lubricant  grease quality or lubrication method will have a big affect the life of the bearing. If the bearing uses high-grade lubricating grease, it can run for 15,000 hours or two years under normal operating conditions.

For pumps with a motor power greater than 18.5KW or under unfavorable conditions such as high ambient temperature, high air humidity, dusty, and aggressive industrial environments, the bearings should be checked in advance. If necessary, the lubricant can be replaced once every 5000 hours.

The amount of lubricating oil filled are different with the structure and volume of the water pump , and it is generally appropriate to fill with 1/3-1/2 of the volume.

When the filling amount is too much, the lubricating grease will deteriorate, age and soften due to heat generated by stirring. it is better  to check and  change the water pump lubricating regularly  to ensure a good environment for pump bearing operation and improve the stability of pump operation.
